:marseyitsover: I have to hire the vatzigger

I'm hiring for a senior data engineering role on my team and not even one cute Black tgirl applied so I had to interview a pool of disappointing white moids and :marseychudindian:

Pretty much all the candidates were terrible except for this one old Russian bastard who hates Kubernetes even more than I do and wanted to brag about his Perl scripts. The Indians were all mouth-breathing ex-Java devs who did meaningless work for HSBC they couldn't explain, and the white boys seemed to think their funtime hobby projects peepeeing around with Solidity were impressive instead of a massive red flag.

Anyway, I have no choice but to hire the 50-something Ruski because he's the only one who is not rslurred. The title is sort of a joke but I'm hoping he's either an old-school commie or somebody who fled Putin's draft and not an actual :ziggerseethe:

Any advice for junior techcels looking to get a fricking job, b-word?

Honestly, it's rough out there for juniors right now. It's a cliche, but network. Go to local meetups, give talks about stuff. You might try to get into dev-adjacent roles like business analyst, QA, or support, and then look for chances to automate things or show off your ability to code.

I tried getting into IT as a fricking self-taught; impossible. Filtered by entry level jobs that required a fricking master's and 5 years of development experience. Fun.

A fricking recruitercel in a fricking QnA bragged about how he got into dev recruiting with no prior experience. Right after telling people they need to tailor their cvs and write cover letters so that nobody reads them.

Not sure if you can tell by now, but I have high regard for "people" like you

If you're going to be this much of a bitter loser in response to someone offering trite, but genuine advice, maybe the reason you're not getting hired is because of you.

If the market doesn't want you, then be more desirable. Make connections that'll get your resume moved to the top of the stack or fill out your resume with things that make you stand out from the thousands of other applicants. And if the jobs you want require a BS/MS, then get one.

Sorry :marseyqueencrown: not sorry :marseyqueencrown:

I think :marseyhyperthonk: you don't hear that enough, and you might actually :marseynerd3: be under  the fricking impression that you're making a fricking favor to someone instead of being a fricking plight and a fricking parasite.

Thanks for the fricking advice :marseyscumbagsteve: though. I feel a fricking little :marseypony: bit bad for being mean to you, but it's part of the fricking life, can't help since I have interacted with recruiters in person :marseygeisha: (hint they're all smug fart huffing :marseyjunkie2: pricks), fun characters. I am really :marseythinkorino2: sorry :marseyqueencrown: for you having to work alongside these people, I genuinely think :marseychildclutch: it's a fricking fate worse than death. If you think :marseyphilosoraptor: about killing :marseymegalodon: yourself :marseydespawnurself: remember you're doing the fricking world :marseyww1german1: a fricking service.

Dude, chill the frick out. I'm not a recruiter, I'm a tech lead and I actually am a self-taught programmer (but I have a BA in math).

You need to get your foot in the door somewhere and get your ticket stamped like "yeah this person can work with others in a professional environment and isn't a total sperg" (you're failing this last part rn) and then it becomes easier after that first gig. I don't know where you're applying, but try smaller companies or non-"tech" firms: it's a joke on Blind but Albertson's actually does hire shitloads of developers. I think they're bankrupt now but we used to go talks by the Sears API team. Insurance companies and banks are not "cool" but they are usually looking for bodies. If nothing else, there's contracting companies like 8th Light or Pivotal.
