I know I'm not too in touch with the median voter, but do people watch the president speak? Are presidential interviews something people voluntarily watch?
They see snippets of the worst parts of the speeches on their Facebook reels and share them around
My dad literally texts me about once a week talking about how he saw Biden acting like an r-slur again in some Facebook clip, it's hilarious.

Anytime Biden does a interview or speech, there's always some minor verbal flub. He's done that his entire career,
do these people actually believe this? i genuinely can't tell.
biden wasn't like this when he was VP. he wasn't like this back in the day when he was against segregation or gays. he wasn't even this bad when he first became president.

Biden has always been a gaffe machine. The dude has been around since the 70's. I remember back when he was running in 04 and in 08 people making fun of him. That said, his sundown moments are a cause for concern.
My opinion of Nate is getting so low at this point I don't believe he's making this argument in good faith.
If Biden did bow to this plan and do these interviews, there's no world where Nate comes out afterwords saying, "oh good, Biden has reassured me he is not too old"

Nate Silver is a good writer. It's telling that their only response to his piece is that "he's making these arguments in hecking bad faith" instead of a real response. /u/ghardgrave is the only one making coherent arguments which are obviously flawed.
That is especially true for a candidate who hasn't been campaigning, and didn't have anyone vote for them. You seriously think that won't depress turnout more than “Biden old”?
This is the entire point of Silver's piece. You have to campaign to win election and it's so obvious that Biden won't be able to run a normal campaign. This means if the democrats are going to keep the presidency they need to find a replacement ASAP, or have Biden not be senile.
There is not a single voter who prefers Trump because of his age, and anyone who cites Biden's age as the reason for sitting out this election is lying through their teeth.
That's not how elections work. If there were compulsory elections this would have a point but for a candidate to win they have to actually motivate people to get to the polls come election day,. To do this you need to campaign while not being senile.
Biden's slow and talks with a stutter. Trump is sounds fricking demented.
This is a cope, but a lot of people on the liberal-left genuinely believe it. Like it or not Trump is charismatic.

>Like it or not Trump is charismatic
There's a reason Biden's age is considered a concern and Trump's is despite being the same age for all intents and purposes. The dude pretty successfully runs a cult. Biden is 81 and shows every bit of it.
>This means if the democrats are going to keep the presidency they need to find a replacement ASAP, or have Biden not be senile.
But....they can't. Right? Biden's already won primaries, so what would happen if the Dems pull him and roll out KWEEN QAMALA? Does she just psychically absorb Biden's electorate like Biden absorbs the melanin of black Republican voters?
Even if they wanted to, it's too late to change super Tuesday ballots. They could try and debut someone else at the convention, but they really don't have a choice, it has to be Kamala Harris. I don't like her odds, or her, but she at least could campaign and do interviews which is something that even the biden-lover of /r/neoliberal don't think Biden is capable of.
The Inflation Reduction Act passed which had a bunch of subsidies for renewables in it, but I can't think of much else. I only know about this because the act also reclassified nuclear power as zero-emission and eligible for its own set of green power subsidies.
Yeah it makes no sense that this wasn't already the case but I'll take what I can get. IIRC the subsidies allocated towards it are mostly going to be used to extend the lifespan of existing plants and prevent early decommissions.

Because on the left, the Silent generation is almost dead, and the 60's boomer activist class is going to the nursing home in droves. The Dems biggest base is currently college educated millennials. That demo sees climate as more of a threat than people who're on death's door. Nukes are more popular with that demo. And rightfully so.
The right, oil and gas lobby has a vested interest in keeping it out.

I would legit go out and vote if someone ran a candidate under 60 years old at this point. I know its bad for drama, but I also really hate old people; they constantly remind me that my mind will degrade with age to the point of absolute helplessness if I don't kill myself or nobody else kills me.

Reporting this post for misinformation. Biden is not senile, he is one of the best presidents in history. Open borders, inflation, and escalating towards world war 3 are good. Orange man bad. We need to keep him and Dean Phillips off the ballot in order to protect our sacred Democracy.
