the best part about boy scouts was going out and doing shit like caving, rifle shooting, manual labor, river rafting, orienteering, and wilderness survival with me and the boys
the worst part was the lame-butt paperwork and other boring bullshit
if this leads to a bunch of girl scout troops being able to do cool shit instead of cookie baking or whatever other r-sluration then i'm all for it. just as long as it doesn't end up turning the entire program lame-butt and ruin it for everyone

unironically a great move. my parents pushed me to do boy scouts and i always hated it. there was this mixture of fear, jealousy, and shame that surrounded me and girl scouts, i remember walking past them once and wishing that i could be a part of it too. i couldn't have been older than 10/11 at the time either. if only i had known back then....

it is and is in a lot of respects inferior to boy scouts. that's why they're renaming, bc there are girls in "boy" scouts now.

The thing is, venture scouts were always a thing and were always co-ed for kids 14-20. They only did the cool stuff and never did any of the lame paperwork and shit, so it's not like you were getting a worse version of the activities. But it doesn't have a gendered term in the name so no one actually did the research too realize they could just do that instead.
