I would love to live in the city when I have a kid but frankly the public schools suck, I don't want to pay for private school , my wife doesn't love the idea of living somewhere where she has to worry about people harassing her and our kids with the added bonus of having to worry that the reckless drivers the city refuses to deal with.

Progressive ideology has been an absolute failure in Minneapolis schools (and some of the worse inner ring suburbs). I know teachers who have left because they were tired of being called white supremacists by the school admin. Like literally having sessions where they come into the room and say "Everyone here is a white supremacist."

The idea of the admins in a majority black school standing up and telling all of the white teachers, lib true believers who are likely there because they drank the Kool Aid and really want to make a difference, that they're white supremacists is honestly one of the funniest things I've heard in a long time.

Even granting there were zero crimes against kids, I would still want kids to be able to play outside without navigating needles and fecal matter. My sister in Seattle couldn't take her kid to the local park's splash pad during the heat wave last year, because there was a tent encampment on it. These things may not bother you, depending what your hopes and wants are, but I guarantee plenty of parents are bothered by such environments.

and you are going to deny your children all the hustle and bustle just to avoid a few poopies and needlies? :taygrimacing:

If we let the housing market work and stopped subsidizing SFHs, dense multifamily housing would be much cheaper and more abundant than it is right now, and SFHs would be more expensive.

lmao

Here in Chicago it's the other way around. If you let the market do what it wants, lots of 2-flats will get torn down and replaced with large SFH. The city literally had to pass ordinances banning what they term "deconversions" to halt this.

Imagine thinking that the typical American family's preference for their own detached home is entirely due to subsidies and isn't genuine at all.
