This and other announcements like this by the PPB are obviously part of their "quiet strike." Why are we still funding them if they are refusing to do the one thing we have them for which is uphold the law?

We need to remove that funding from them in response and hire an alternative to do that job until they are capable of doing it themselves. Maybe bring in the Oregon national guard until the PPB proves it's worth the money we keep throwing at it.

>Police are too heavy handed, dangerous, and lazy, Id much rather be policed by r-slurred 18 year olds who are armed with rifles and trained for combat. I'm sure that'll be cheaper and more effective.

They're willfully r-slurred wingcucks who are aware that their demands are contradictory and stupid, they're just lashing out about the fact that the closed door decision by cops to be hands off is having its intended political effect, and there's nothing Portlanders can do about it. It's particularly effective in Portland because there's a strong lefty base of people who truly believe in abolishing the police that freak out at any intervention on homeless encampments and the various crimes drug addicts get up to.

The more these dummies whine in exasperation about how these lazy cops should get up off their asses and start arresting people the dumber they will look on a national level. They know they're losing the propaganda battle and no amount of hand-wringing over supposed "Nazis" like The Proud Boys (aka Gavin McInnes' gay s*x club) will change that.

Fundamentally I think police need to have harsher penalties when they frick up, but trying to fight police as a concept and gimping their ability to operate in hostile political climates is only going to result in the libertarian wet dream of the expansion of private security forces under the control of whoever is wealthy enough to hire them.
