Modern American Morality Explained

There is an American on a volcano with multiple bridges. Each bridge on top of the volcano has multiple people and each is crumbling at a different rate. Some faster and some slower.

The bridge that is crumbling faster than the American's has two people on it. One person cannot walk as fast as the other and will be left behind. If the second person slows down to help the hobbled person both of them will be too slow to be able to get off the bridge and both will die. If the man runs away himself one will survive. The American from his bridge shouts at the faster man that the morally right thing to do is to slow down and help the hobbled man. He shame the other man into going back and they both end up burning in the lake of lava. The American pats himself on the back for keeping his country on the right path.

Now the American's bridge is collapsing. He too has another person with him. He wants to leave the bridge and run for it but his companion too is hobbled. His inner morality tells him to stop and try to save the hobbled man. So he does that and some others like him on the other bridges don't. He thinks those are all hypocritical losers and he is right. He himself helps until the bridge collapses and both of them are burning in the lake of lava. The American with his last breath wonders in confusion why this happened to him and does not understand what went wrong. He did the right thing after all. It was all those people who got off the bridge that deserved to be falling into the lake of lave.

In his next life the American is repeating the exact same situation but this time he shames the other people but himself runs across the bridge telling himself he already did everything he could to help the other guy but it didn't work and he is still a good person.

Every single person in that story is a piece of shit. The man who went back for being an easy to bully into death cuck. The American who stayed out of righteousness for having terrible judgement. The ones who ran away for being hypocritical pieces of shit.

the only question is of degrees and who did the most logical thing with the maximum net benefit instead of letting everything and everyone be fricked over to make a point.

Two men struggle in a riptide. The American lifeguard realizes immediately he will only be able to save one. Indeed, he knows with certainty he can save one. He also knows with certainty the other will be swept out to sea. By choosing one he kills the other. Unable to accept this, he lets both of them die, while he stares helplessly from the shore at the tragedy that has nothing to do with him.

Two men struggle in a riptide. The Chinese lifeguard realizes immediately he will only be able to save one. Indeed, he knows with certainty he can save one. He is unconcerned with the fact he can not save both, and he moves to help the closer of the two. Then he realizes that he will be legally liable for any injuries incurred by the man during the rescue, thinks better of it, and returns to his station. He stares helplessly from the shore at the tragedy that has nothing to do with him.

Two men struggle in a riptide. The utilitarian lifeguard realizes immediately that he will only be able to save one. Indeed, he knows with certainty that he can save one. However, he reasons that one of them is almost assuredly more valuable than the other. They are far away and it is difficult for him to pick out features, but he attempts to figure out who would be better to save. While he counts up the utils in his head, they are both swept away. He stares helplessly, knowing that he made the correct decision to slow down and try and take only the best course of action. Not everyone can be saved, after all, and surely the process will bear out in the long run.

Two men struggle in a riptide. The female lifeguard realizes immediately that she can save neither. She looks around, trying to find someone to help them before they are swept out to sea. Unfortunately, the male lifeguard was let go in order to hire her, as per the city diversity policy. Both men drown while she stares helplessly from the shore at the tragedy that some man should have prevented.

Two men struggle in a riptide. The Black lifeguard desperately wishes he'd learned how to swim,
