I get what you're saying about FOMO with regard to blocking people, but if anyone feels that way, why would they want the people involved purged? Some users for example could excessively post animations or scantility clad women which are hard to ignore. I run an adblocker too even if I'm pretty sure my mind will just filter them and that I'll never consoom stuff from ads.
Other valid reasons are if you know that there is some kind of bait you'll always swallow, best to filter it. And some users, like old Sal, very basically spam in the same way ads where and the time to scroll past them actually becomes a slightly annoying.
