If they're anything like me, they immediately stopped working as soon as they found out the part was needful, so the clock starts when the part arrives in the afternoon.

Despite being billed "hours of labor" that charge does not reflect time actually spent working on the car at least at the dealership where I worked. Each job has a preassigned amount of hours that will be charged regardless of how long it actually takes. Some jobs take much less time, some much more. The techs are constantly jockeying with the shop foreman for the sweet jobs that take less time.

I'm convinced our foreman was fair about it because every last one of them constantly bitched about it and were convinced they were the ones getting screwed.
