Only about ~1% of Wikipedia's funding goes towards their hostings :marseyderp:

That's actually making me seethe and mald a bit since I love Wikipedia. I know it's not perfect but I have spent thousands of hours just perusing Wikipedia's math etc articles. I love learning so much bros. Is it over for love-of-knowledge-cels?

It's the same thing with Mozilla foundation. It's aggravating.

Looking at the breakdown though, this isn't really that egregious.

Their big expenses are salaries and grants. They need employees and grants are just them giving away money.. so.

People take issue with the grants being based on politics and not wiki related.

Yeah that's probably fair.

It's a similar thing with Mozilla and their financials are way more egregious.

Just use that money to help the browser teams somehow. There has to be a way without complicating the inter-entity finances. :marseycry:

Get a TB drive and just dowload the database. Wikipedia already have a page where can download either 89GB of the entire english database with pictures or 46~GB of all of english wikipedia without pictures.

I actually did this and put it on an e-paper e-reader so I can read Wikipedia when I'm in the woods. It takes very little power. It's basically like how I imagined the hitchhikers guide to the galaxy was when I was little.

Enjoy your math articles while you can, because you know they will be next for cleansing once the autismo editor menace is done sanitizing history articles. The borg will consume all.
