Coke can kill at random doses but amphetamines and opiates have a very predictable dose response curve (assuming you know which specific amphetamine or opiate you're taking; """heroin""" these days can mean anything and black market adderall is all just meth), and in the case of amphetamines it's actually really really hard to overdose on them to the point of death (you'd have to take like an entire gram+ if you're otherwise healthy, typical dose is tens of milligrams). "Overdosing" on amphetamines usually just means an extremely physically and psychologically unpleasant couple of days.
