The greatest recruitment tool for left wing beliefs is the notion that just by having these beliefs you are an intellectual. You don't need any academic achievements or need to be well read you just need to be left wing. The further left the smarter you are.
These comedy shows make it so these people don't even need to actually listen to boring NPR or watch boring newscasts they can just watch a comedy show affirming their intellectual superiority.
It's funny when you see an actual lefty intelligent person talking to someone like this, at first they are eager to talk about the most surface level social media takes then there is a disconnect once the smart one says something about theory or mentions a writer or disagrees.

You get to be a good person, but even better, you get to still be cruel and mean and derisive towards people you don't like, or people like your parents. Because they are bad people with the wrong opinions and therefore deserve your cruelty, and your cruelty is actually a sign that you're even better because it's for the right reasons. You're not a c*nt, you're defending the disenfranchised.
And as that inevitably includes you, then being terrible to people who don't do what you want and are therefore victimising you, a member of a minority group, is just being a good person.
Leftist idpol gives you a moral structure to allow you to be a narcissist and it be considered a good thing, an intellectual structure so you can think of yourself as well-informed and highly educated even if your information comes from Twitter and TikTok, and a social structure that puts negative acts against the opposition higher than positive acts in general. You can see its appeal to teenaged minds.
