Dragonshit vs Capeshit

So since most dramanauts are neurodivergent, this seems like an interesting topic.

Which one of the fantasy universes is more beloved here, Chads of the Ring or Game of Soys?

Chads of the Ring obviously, read all the COMPLETED books many times. Never read Song of Soy and Estrogen because ITS NOT COMPLETE

I like the Game of Thrones books more. Partially because the silmarillion is unreadable garbage. But gotta give Tolkien props for finishing his story unlike fatty martin.

If you don’t mind a slight threadjack, are there any other fantasy book series people here would recommend?

I’m trying to find lesser known ones that aren’t Young Adult-ified and or r-slurred.

I’m not sure. I really like worldbuilding and long running continuity, which are neuroverge traits. I can like low and high fantasy. I appreciate the politics and character focus of the former and the really out there magic and premises of the later.

I don’t like a lot of fantasy tropes though, like one-dimensional villains or generic elves/dragons/whatevers that could just as easily be any other setting’s generic elves/dragons/whatevers. I don’t like cheesy adventure stories, but I don’t like extreme grimdark either.

David Gemmel is schlock but it's got a certain something that just works really well.

The original Conan stories are good too but they are just short stories.

Gene Wolfe- the book of the new sun is very very good but it's literature sci-fi

The Sword of Truth series obviously

Hissing, hackles lifting, the chicken's head rose.

Kahlan pulled back.

Its claws digging into stiff dead flesh, the chicken slowly turned to face her. It cocked its head, making its comb flop, its wattles sway.

"Shoo," Kahlan heard herself whisper.

There wasn't enough light, and besides, the side of its beak was covered with gore, so she couldn't tell if it had the dark spot. But she didn't need to see it.

"Dear spirits, help me," she prayed under her breath.

The bird let out a slow chicken cackle. It sounded like a chicken, but in her heart she knew it wasn't. In that instant, she completely understood the concept of a chicken that was not a chicken. This looked like a chicken, like most of the Mud People's chickens. But this was no chicken.

This was evil manifest.

Also

A plump, curly-haired woman took a step out from the others. Her round face was red with anger as she screamed. "Stop the hate! No war! Stop the hate! No war!"

"Move or die!" Richard yelled as he picked up speed.

The red-faced woman shook her fleshy fist at Richard and his men, leading an angry chant. "Murderers! Murderers! Murderers!"

On his way past her, gritting his teeth as he screamed with the fury of the attack begun, Richard took a powerful swing, lopping off the woman's head and upraised arm. Strings of blood and gore splashed across the faces behind her even as some still chanted their empty words. The head and loose arm tumbled through the crowd. A man mad the mistake of reaching for Richard's weapon, and took the full weight of a charging thrust.

Men behind Richard hit the line of evil's guardians with unrestrained violence. People armed only with their hatred for moral clarity fell bloodied, terribly injured, and dead. The line of people collapsed before the merciless charge. Some of the people, screaming their contempt, used their fists to attack Richard's men. They were met with swift and deadly steel.

Riftworld Saga by Raymond Feist (and some of the following series in the same universe), though it probably counts as YA (at least I read it as a teenager).

LoTR and it's not even close. Tolkien made the rules that shaped 50 years of fantasy. GoT is a very down-the-middle low-fantasy story with some good worldbuilding. Doesn't mean it's bad, but let's keep it in its own weight class.

GMM worldbuilding is second to none, my favorite book series by far. idk if im just neurodivergent but I like the worldbuilding books (fire and blood and world of world of ice and fire) the most of all. its just so much fun to build a world in your head.

Are those worldbuilding books worth a read? (Only read the main ones)

World of ice and fire is purely worldbuilding so yes if you like that, fire and blood is more like the normal book series with a actually story told as a history. I like them both alot but read fire and blood first before world of ice and fire.

I only really like Game of Thrones for Robb Stark and have straight up never read the books nor watched the show. The same for both for the Lord of the Rings though so idk.

You havent watched the show nor read the books but still like the character? Why?

The Young Wolf and all that tbh. Honestly, the reason I never even tried to watch the show was that I knew he died so I saw it as pointless. He was just IMO the most interesting part of the series and the rest is faux-medieval drama I find boring (after I read about it on the wikia) or faux-medieval socio-politics which I find annoying.

Like he did have the best scenes. Did you saw any of the good ones? Like when he called the banners when his dad was gonna hang in the capital https://youtube.com/watch?v=UR8nlgMKW7Q ? or when he got his just deserts for being a simp ?

Yeah, I've watched a few including the Red Wedding in full. They're part of why I like him.

I like GoT and think if that it still had a chance to end good after season 6, but 7 & 8 were a huge shitshow. I did read the books until about 3/4ths of the way through ADWD and fell off waiting for it to finish.
