Do you degenerates like handmade knives? :marseybackstab:

I just make ‘em for fun, I don’t have a business or some shit I’m trying to push. Maybe you gross animals will like them. :marseyshrug:

I’ll post a few more in the comments since I don’t know how to format on a phone. :marseycry:

How did you make it pretty blue like that?

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

Polish it and clean it extremely well, surround it by copper/brass wool, and hit it with a torch until it turns blue. If you have a lab oven, you can just put it in there bare at about 300C.

The knife in the main post or the ones I posted in a comment?

Main, but I'd be interested in hearing about the others, too. I'm familiar with the process. And if you'd care to share, I'd be interested in the steel content. What did you put into it

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

The main pic of the post isn’t Damascus. The line on it that looks kinda like a waterfall is from differential hardening. I apply special clay to the spine of the blade and none to the edge, causing the edge to harden but the spine to stay soft for strength. It’s functional but fun as well because no two patterns come out the same. The :marseychingchong: came up with it, I think.

The smaller one with the red handle has about 50 layers of “random pattern” Damascus on each side with core of 1080 “normal” steel.

The last is a ladder pattern Damascus with about 40 layers and a burl handle to boot.

What got you into knife making? just a fun hobby?

I saw some YouTube video of a guy making a railroad spike knife and thought it looked pretty cool. I bought a pos harbor freight anvil and built the shittiest forge ever made lol.

Sorry, didn’t see the steel content part til now.

The khukri is made with 1075. It gives the best hamon line out of any steel I’ve ever tried, including w2 which gives nice ones.

The second is just standard 1080/15n20 Damascus with a 1080 core.

The last is also just standard 1080/15n20.

I take it you make knives if you’re curious. What steels do you like?

I have a bunch I don’t use too often but if you’re into knife making I’d be down to discuss.

Oh look it's (((you))) again. It's incredible that out of the sheer volume of shit I've seen spew out of your keyboard you have never even stumbled on a crumb of intelligent thought, even by chance. You don't even have the grace to be moronic in an entertaining way, it's just non-stop forgettable drivel.

I have quite a few I beat the shit out of and haven’t had any problems lol. I QC all the nicer ones by making duplicates without putting all the finish into them.

On the one hand ironwork and forging your own blades is based as frick :gigachad2:

On the other hand knife collecting is only cool if you use them to survive in the wild and fight predatory animals twice your size.

Overall a pretty cool knife but borderline mallninjashit if it's just decorative
