Redscare asks the mayo foid question :marseychonkernoticeme::marseytransattentionseeker: "Young fat queer people using canes - new trend?"

https://old.reddit.com/r/redscarepod/comments/17e7x3d/young_fat_queer_people_using_canes_new_trend

I live by a university and I'm noticing this strange trend of young, otherwise able-bodied people using canes. I see at least one every day, whereas last decade I could go years without seeing a 20-something using a cane to walk.

I haven't observed men or POC partaking in the trend. They are almost always exclusively white, morbidly obese, AFAB nonbinary people with rainbow colored hair.

Is it some kind of status symbol in their community - desperately dredging together a layer of visible oppression for brownie points in their SJW circles?

This has been going on forever. There was a girl in my class who had all the medical devices one day she's on crutches, the next she's got her arm in a sling. Come to think of it, she probably used a cane once or twice. If she was a zoomer, she'd 1000% be a they/them genderblob with rainbow hair. Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if she is these days. She was the very essence of "notice me!"
