No, they understand. The ones who understand how propaganda functions just recognize that there's power in internalizing a critique and then projecting it back outward. It's the 4chan mentality like "yeah, I live with my parents and have no job and jack it to trans hentai but even I can see what they're doing to the white race!" When you own up to an ad hominem, you force the other person to directly engage with what you're saying and have a conversation that they might not be prepared for. You can see it in the split right wing response to Barbie. You have the Ben Shapiro types on one hand and on the other, the guys who go "Yes! This is me!" The former can only preach to the converted but the latter can draw new people in.

  • Gay people calling themselves strags/queers
  • Black people claiming the N word
  • Political parties adopting the insults used against them like 'Whig' and 'Tory'
