What annoys me about these folks is that they are just completely divorced from the physical layer of society. None of them dig coal or plant wheat or process poultry or deliver babies or gin cotton, and they spit on the people that do. They are always threatening a general strike, but the occupations they inhabit (if they work at all) are completely superfluous. Oh no! I have to brew my own coffee and walk my own dog...the horror.

Gardening is based, but you need 1 acre to feed 4 people so this small scale larp was doomed the second 4 people (or less) who didn't grow anything decided they wanted the produce, assuming they managed to grow anything.
Can't wait until I get my tomatoes in though. Spraying the hosepipe around before work is the best part of summer.

If you aren't using modern farming practices with pesticides and fertilizer you need way more than 1 acre. Up till the green revolution of the 1940s you needed roughly 40 acres to feed a family of 4-6 people. That's why 40 acres and a mule was a proposal for black self sufficiency.
