The improvement is now you don't have to have children. Remember, more and more sane people, more and more women, are choosing to totally forgo men and marriage and kids. Some date, but do not want to entangle financially with men or create a family with children at all. Before, you had to do that, and now you you still can, or be alone and work and live in a ugly cramped studio. It turns out the pod life is still, somehow, more tolerable. Besides, medically, birth control with high efficacy is a relatively new invention. The next improvement to work on is indeed making “mother” a paid position by subsidizing the cost of having a baby if one wants to have a family now.
