If you're not a Socialist by the time you're twenty you have no heart, but if you're not a conservative by the time you're forty you have no brain

Once you start earning and trying to make a life and you see all the freebies everyone "poor" is getting while you are getting butt fricked by the tax man, you end up a con. In that way that statement is correct

there is some good in lefty analysis (mostly socialist stuff about class/material conditions), but as a viable movement, it's so far beyond dead it's not funny.

The Post-material PoMosexuals have completely taken over. In the last 5-6 years there was an tacit debate, with the 'anti-woke'/Stupidpol types, about whether leftism can exist in the modern age without the identitarian spoils system & victim culture. Given how dead Stupidpol is nowadays, and how shitlib other groups like Chapo and the redscarepod subreddit became, I think this question was answered 'No'. The reasonable ones like BARpod seem to have peace with this and shifted right. Red Scare started as Berniebro and shifted dissident right in that 5-6 year time frame.

Dissident right seems to be the new fertile soil, and anecdotally I've noticed more class analysis in the right lately. In terms of interesting development, there's also the fusion of radfem & right-wing.

The deepest irony is that, by being reactionary, the right is more updated than the left. The left focuses on historical sins, seething about colonialism 100s of years ago, nationalism and fascism etc. They act like feminism is in the same position it was when women couldn't open bank accounts. Irrelevant shite. But if you go by materialist analysis, the conditions have changed and the new foe is elsewhere. The left is at war with yesterday, and the right is at war with today.
