A bumper sticker fish? Just what the heck does that have to do with Jesus!!!

"I know He turned fish into loaves of bread to feed The 5000, but what does that mean for me?"

Well I'm glad you asked, fellow !christians! There is much more to the symbol of the fish than the story of that miracle!

Of course we know that the Savior, God's Son, Jesus Christ performed this miracle.

But what happens if we read the original Greek language of the New Testament?

Well, if we translate "Jesus Christ, God's Son, Savior" back into Biblical Greek, it becomes "Ἰησοῦς Χρῑστός Θεοῦ Υἱός Σωτήρ."

Well what does this mean for me?

Well how about we simply things by only looking at the first letter of each word in the phrase?

Well it turns out that IXΘYΣ is the Greek word for...

You guessed it!

FISH!

Also, what symbol do we make when we cross our fingers?

You guessed right again! The sign of the IXΘYΣ! Ummm I meant FISH!

The next time you honk at someone in traffic, maybe double-check! You might just be honking at someone whose only sin is being late for church!

It's also wrong, the miracle was the multiplication of the loaves and fishes, not turning fish into bread. One modern liberal take on this is that it is the Miracle of Caring and Sharing, when Jesus got the boy to hand over his fish and bread and proposed dividing it up amongst all the crowd, they were shamed into taking out their hidden lunches and sharing them with those who had nothing.

This is supposed to make more sense and be more appealing to 'modern audiences', as it were. Nobody on the nice liberal "we're not so stupid as to believe in literal miracles" side ever seems to notice that what they are saying is that a bunch of 1st century Jews were so mean and greedy, they hid their food and had to be emotionally blackmailed into sharing it. This is supposed to be the nice take on things?
