Unfortunately urban fighting means close proximity to civilians, which inevitably results in them getting caught in the crossfire. Fallujah was basically a ghost town by the time the battle you linked started which is why the civilian casualties were so low. Unfortunately for the palestinoids Egypt refuses to accept refugees. 1. "children" literally means everyone under 18, which incidentally is the median age in Gaza. A lot of Hamas combatants would technically be "children".
2. The numbers and breakdown of casualties are all based on reports put out by Hamas, so I'm sure they're 100% accurate even though on some days they report near zero or negative numbers of adult male casualties.
