Americans have a strange fascination with murder. I don't know why. It's kind of weird
My ourgroup bias says that people like me are bad
Probably because we have the single most violent society on the planet right now. This whole country was built on/using unfathomable amounts of violence. Government and media perpetuate an obscene level of hero worship of the police and military-- people whose central role in the world is to commit violence. Violence is exported through the arms trade and imperialist aggression. American puppets and proxies are exalted for commiting violence on behalf of the empire, just look at how the media rushed to engage in nonstop zelensky peepeeriding when the war in Ukraine began.
Even just being okay with the status quo requires an acceptance of incredible amounts of violence at home and abroad.
Lmao shut the frick up
Much of Pakistani society operates under an "honour" code where women can be killed for bringing "shame" on their families by acts such as interacting with men or marrying someone they choose themselves.
More than 470 cases of "honour" killings were reported to police in 2021, according to the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan (HRCP), though many cases go unreported by families who collude with the killers -- often male relatives.
Pakistan ranked 153 out 156 countries on the World Economic Forum's Global Gender Gap index in 2021, which noted stark disparities in access to justice, education and employment.
