I'm surprised at how many sane people there are in the comments. I know that not all social democrats are crazy, but I figured the ones who post on /r/SocialDemocracy would be. And don't get me wrong, most of the comments are r-slurred, but there were some that weren't.

Israel has been in there for 9 months now and haven't found Hamas' leaders or the hostages. If they were actually trying to they would have done it by now. Clearly they're just not going into the tunnels because they don't have the guts to take casualties. They've already blown up all the housing in Gaza, which obviously was their real goal. So wtf is the point of them staying there?

The main objective is to eliminate Hamas as the government of Gaza (and its military wing), this will obviously take a long time, especially with the hundreds of KM's of tunnels and remaining weapons caches/infrastructure.
Bibi already said in the first few days that this will be a "hard long war", and the Israeli population is domestically psyoped to adjust to the "new normal" of long war
