I assume that's predominantly to catch drug traffickers? Also, I don't do drugs or traffic them but every time I go to Singapore I'm nervous at the baggage carousel.

Recently they locked up some old Dutch lady for days because she joked about having a bomb in her luggage at some regional shithole airport in the Philippines. I'm sure that's the most suspicious thing that ever happened there.
I rode a newish metro recently where they require you to carry water bottles in hand while your bag goes through the scanner. Pissed me off so much to be sent out the line for that I started loudly bitching about how bomb threat in Delhi was much higher than this provincial town with 4 car metros and yet they don't do drama like that.
Thankfully I was doing that stuff in my language so the guards couldn't understand anything. Still got hushed hard.
Actually now I think about it I've never been asked to do any sort of bomb check or w/e at Changii. I get asked 100% of the time just about at Sydney/Melbourne, which I can only assume is political correctness. I'm as white as the driven snow and dress nicely.

The Police patrol O'Hare like crazy, too. They were under orders from the mayor's office to not kick out the bums because she was virtue signaling. But now they have been kicked out by the new mayor. American homeless are no longer allowed to live there because the City is literally using it as a migrant shelter.
My batch was the first batch in basic to use the SAR-21 so it was probably very good in comparison to the old M-16s or AR-15s at some units lmao
My favourite was firing the MATADOR because it was the only weapon you didn't have to clean
The MATADOR (man-portable, anti-tank, anti-door[2]) is a 90-millimetre (3.5 in) man-portable, disposable anti-armour and anti-brickwall weapon system developed by Germany, Israel and Singapore. It is an updated version of the German Armbrust design, and operates on the same principles. The development of this weapon began in 2000 and the MATADOR will eventually replace the German Armbrust Light Anti-tank Weapon, which has been in service since the 1980s.[3]
It's amazing how militaries worldwide manage to make fun things like shooting machine guns gay after you factor in cleaning up the brass and links and then spending hours cleaning them.
I've never liked bullpups much. Changing mags always feels bad ergonomically and they almost universally have shitty triggers. I'd probably think differently if I had been drilled with a bullpup's manual of arms and wasn't from a country where I can just buy interesting rifles for fun.

lol that's probably it, I might feel differently too if I transitioned from firing M-16s/AR-15s to the SAR-21

Well yeah, they kind of have to check people there. If they didn't check people, a malayigger might accidentally get through

Why, are airports a target for terror attacks? Or are they just under military jurisdiction?

Powerful levels of autism in that collaboration.
