YouTuber reviews the LTT Screwdriver

Timestamps copied from the bird farms:

5:00 Jay can't figure out how to get to the bit storage and when he finally gets it open he comments it is "very strong" and appears to struggle. Seems like a similar complaint to the one that pissed off Linus in the pop up shop

10:00 Jay uses the motorized screwdriver that he bought years ago from Amazon. It easily gets the PSU screw out and he mentions it was only $10 before quickly saying "I'm not comparing it to that!"

12:40 He's shoving the screwdriver down a confined space and I couldn't help but think "The Wiha would do this better" as the bulbous end seriously limits it in narrow spaces. He notices this issue and explicitly mentions it at ~12:55 but reframes it as being better than his stupid motorized screwdriver because that thing wouldn't fit at all.

14:15 He complains about his shitty motorized screwdriver "cross threading" (how do you do that when you're removing the screw?) and undoing the standoff. Literally setup his motorized screwdriver to fail by rushing and acting like an idiot.

15:00 Doesn't this guy build PCs for a living? Just fumbling around and can't even get the mobo lined up on the standoffs. What the frick

16:10 He finishes and it was 4x faster with the LTT screwdriver. Well no shit when you act like a gorilla with the motorized one and frick up your standoffs. He must've been amping it up for that infomercial black & white scene effect since there's no way this guy builds PCs everyday and it's that much of a struggle unless he's an absolute moron.

16:55 The drop test sheared off one of the plastic bit retention tabs

So basically buy the $34 one so you spend half as much and get similar results

The LTT one is made by the company that makes the $34 one.

the mechanism is patented from megapro, but i think ltt found :marseymissing2: a different CM to make :marseyyarn: and assemble their final :marseysephiroth: product :marseyoctopus3:

no it isn't. they licensed a patent for a part of the construction (the ratcheting part), and then they modified it (they improved it).

seems like it. but i don’t mind contributing some money :marseycoin: to linus’s new house :marseykiwivampire:

I honestly don't get the point of ratcheting screwdrivers. It's not like a socket wrench where you might only be able to turn it a few degrees. Surely a good quality normal one is much more useful. Especially if it has a butt that can turn freely so you can press down on it while turning

Motorized screwdrivers are another scam. Buy a decent cordless drill and stop being a weak b-word

he mentions it was only $10

Hmm whats does the shitty LTT screwdriver cost :marseythinkorino:

$69.99 USD

Consumers are r-slurred :marseyretard2:

Not sure why anyone would buy the LTT screwdriver when they admit it's a rebadged MegaPro. Yes, they changed the shaft and the handle, but I'd rather take the MegaPro Automotive for $30 which uses standard bits over the LTT shit. ProjectFarm basically found it performed the same as the MegaPro.

Most of the "tech Youtube" are just people who barely have any more knowledge than a guy who builds and upgrades his PC every 2-3 years. Austin Evans or whatever his name is was trying to measure PS5 chip temperature by pointing a thermal camera it its exhaust :marseyretard2:

He's rushing for some reason and I don't know why.

According to Reddit, Jay shouldn't exist because he used to weigh like 400lbs and lost all that weight, which is, of course, impossible.

One of the ways you know you've fully settled into boomerhood is how many screwdrivers you have around the house and/or garage. I must be up to... 25? Powered, unpowered, ratcheting, philips, flat, hex, star, etc. Was thinking of picking up one of these powered ones for $18 and change: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01LYJHVXV/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER&psc=1

But it's probably gonna be like all the others. Good, but not that "does everything" screwdriver I'm looking for. Maybe it just doesn't exist. :marseydepressed:

>Maybe it just doesn't exist

It really doesn't. I'd say I have 40+ at this stage. A high quality wiha set of pozi and flat in normal sizes, full set of JIS ones for my motorbike, torx head for working on cars,, tiny ones for electronics and watches and then a few with changeable bits for all the oddball standards (square drive, tamper proof torx etc.

I wouldn't bother with the electric one you posted though, just get a decent smallish cordless drill. It will be way more powerful but also more controllable if it's decent quality. And don't bother with ratcheting they're utterly pointless

And don't bother with ratcheting they're utterly pointless

True, except those maybe once a year scenarios where arm/hand space is limited and it's difficult to get a good grip on a regular screwdriver, where with a ratcheting one you can manage to keep your hand on it and turn your wrist back and forth and get the job done. Otherwise they just seem to make things more difficult.

Nerds trying to use cowtools never stops being funny. They always go for the most overcomplicated fiddly cowtools for jobs that could just as easily be done with basic stuff

That LTT screwdriver is nothing but a scam lol. $70 for that is insane $30 maybe but lmao at all the r-slurs buying it. Also I am starting to absolutely detest Linus, I just close the video if hes in it. I can't stand him anymore. His rest of the staff seem much better hosts than him.
