Horrible News, Must Read! EVGA will no longer make graphics cards

https://forums.evga.com/Official-Message-from-EVGA-Management-m3574574.aspx

EVGA has finally gotten tired of Nvidia's bullshit and is dropping out of the GPU market. A 2 decade old partnership, kaput. :marseyitsover:

This is pretty big isn't it? I would assume that's a massive share of total Nvidia sales and EVGA's own revenue.

It's huge but nobody knows if this is good or bad.

On one hand, GPU prices are cratering because mining is dead and PC gaming has been declining from 2020 levels

on the other hand, AI acceleration cards are going to be in demand.

Maybe EVGA just felt that it was a good time to exit. They can always come back after the uncertainty is gone.

PC gaming isn't cratering, its just that I can run most of the new games on my 6yr old gtx970 without issues and some compromises on quality/fps. Many rarely want to upgrade from what they have because of the exorbitant pricing that nvidia decided to push

PC gaming revenue is declining for AAAs in particular. A lot of high profile projects are being cancelled right now behind the scenes. AAA companies overextended from pandemic growth and have to cut back now. It's not something the consumer would really notice because most of these cancelled projects weren't announced yet, but it's definitely happening.

they must be stupid to think the pandemic surge will continue.

GPUs are a huge :marseychadthundercock: percentage of their revenue but apparently very little :marseybaby: profit.

Darn. The thread says 80%. Their margins must have been absolute shit if they're doing this this.

I don't think any of the GPU partners make good margins on them.

It's a very real possibility they are losing money per sale with the newest cards and the forced price drops.

Sort of, the quality of their cards was fricking shit and they kept having hardware problems. Long term more advanced cards may have just been a market they couldn't sustain with their low quality products. Plus we're heading towards a second crash of the gaming industry, so now is a good time to hunker down.
