If you’ve ever felt like it’s difficult to “un-train” YouTube’s algorithm from suggesting a certain type of video once it slips into your recommendations, you’re not alone.
One major issue, according to new research conducted by Mozzarella, is that YouTube’s in-app controls such as the “dislike” button, are largely ineffective as a tool for controlling suggested content.

The “dislike” button was nearly the same at 12 percent, and “remove from watch history” weeded out about 29 percent.

I've been using that for years and youtube never recommends me shit I wouldn't actively watch. once in a while I click on something different and it poisons my recommendations for a while but you just need to beat the algorithm into submission.

I started liquidating channels from my recommendations a good while ago.I can notice the algorithm getting desperate, recommending me increasingly obscure and esoteric content.

I always use the "don't recommend channel" button to train youtube to not show me any videos with minorities in them. That seems to work pretty well.
