Older photos in my drive have started becoming corrupted. Issue looks like a water stain with massive discoloration and data loss. Is there any way to revert this?

huh... maybe google really is low on money
I keep buying used ssds to dump my photos on the idea of having them somewhere where I can loose the account just feels icky.
I get calls from grandma panicking because she lost access to her cloud storage and that's where her many thousands of photos go when she clears space on her phone to take more pictures. She got it back, but she was really upset.
