Generated from TLDR This:

A school district in Pennsylvania has banned the Girls Who Code book series for young readers, according to an index of banned books compiled by the free expression non-profit Pen America.

The Girls Who Code series features a group of girls who become friends in their school’s coding club.

Saujani said that the group Moms for Liberty, a conservative non-profit formed in 2021 that has been pushing book bans through local chapters across the country, was responsible for the Central York district’s ban on the series.

According to Pen America’s banned books report, many of the titles being banned deal with LGBTQ+ themes or have non-white characters.

An author of one of the Girls Who Code books, Jo Whittemore, said on Twitter: “Some people choose not to focus on how awesome and empowering and inspiring these books are but instead choose fear.”

A statement from officials in that district on Monday strongly denied that they had banned the book series.

“The information published in this article is categorically false,” the district’s statement said while linking to a Business Insider interview with the founder of Girls Who Code which reported the ban. “This book series not been banned, and they remain available in our libraries

Journos are such a fricking joke.

>“The US is apparently ran by a Golden Retriever puppy named Taters, according to the homeless man living under bench #23 in McArthur Park. When reached for comment, the Press Secretary categorically denied the allegations and asked the Guardian if we were fricking r-slurs. We’ll let people make up their own minds.”

I tried to find out if the book was actually on the list, and it’s a bunch of histrionic gnashing of teeth about censorship—ignoring that they do the same shit.

Nothing on the Mom’s for Liberty site, which looks like it’s just a bunch of conservative pearl clutching over s*x in books but not particularly evil. I’m pretty sure I read whatever the frick I wanted at that age and had already seen far worse than whatever they put in those books.

How the frick is anyone even going to publish this story? Could they maybe at least send someone to a library to find out whether any of the assertions are true or not? Jesus, they're fricking letting whoever published this book nobody ever heard of before now just get free advertisement by literally inventing a claim of censorship. It's terrible.
