Brand new $600 Intel CPU can't beat $450 AMD CPU released half a year ago, neither can brand new $700 AMD processor

It's close to the end of the year, you know what that means! More expensive shit that holds little to no tangible benefit compared to the expensive shit that came out last year!!! The current focus is on CPUs and boy oh boy this is one of the product launches ever.

To start off with, AMD's new zen 4 processors operate at 95°c regardless of how beefy your cooling solution is. This is by design, apparently.

AMD went on to say that 95C is not running hot, rather Zen 4 will intentionally go to this temperature as much as possible under load because the power management system knows that this is the ideal way to squeeze the most performance out of the chip without damaging it.

Good stuff.

Additionally, the big expensive ryzen 9 7950x only barely outpaces the significantly older ryzen 7 5800x3D which is really really funny.

Intel has also recently decided to make it known that they exist too, announcing their new line of "raptor lake" processors. The graphs speak for themselves.

https://i.rdrama.net/images/16841355064111187.webp

In the midst all of this, many are still waiting for somebody to announce a product that isn't completely pointless.

It should have been obvious to everyone that consumer PC performance was stagnating when manufacturers started shoving pointless gimmicks and disco lights into their hardware. Remember all the paid promotion totally legit RGB posts on reddit?

:bigsmilesoyjak: :marseybux: :marseyjam: :marseybux: :!bigsmilesoyjak:

They had to build hype and prestige around these new products because the stuff they were selling was only marginally better than the product their customers already had.

Same thing happened with phones. When the latest killer feature is animated emojis you know you should just keep your cash in your wallet.

I’m assuming you still use a thinkpad X200 and think it’s “just as fast” as a Ryzen 9 or something.

Stupid post. Basically nothing is gonna beat the 5800x3d until the 7800x3d. Those cheaps are made for gaming and have incredible performance. If anything the 7950 being close in gaming is impressive considering it's primarily a professional workload chip and not made for gaming.

Anyone buying a CPU with an understanding of how these chips work was gonna wait for the 7800x3d.

Jump in the discussion.

This is a good point, however, you already know that some r-slur is going to blow their money on a 7950 because higher number better :marsoy:

That's why they didn't release the 7800x3d lol. They're gonna milk r-slurs for a month.

Jump in the discussion.

they didn't release the 7800x, its only 7700 and 7900, the 5800x3d had 8x1 ccd but I wonder if they'll limit the 7800x3d to 8 cores since the 7700 is already an 8 core

"average fps ratio" when the axes get obscure you know they're coping

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

Tbh they're gonna probably be better than amds entire lineup for gaming outside of the 7800x3d. The 12700k was already beating the 5700/5800x and is competitive with the 7000 series.

If intel drops their chips at the same price points as last time AMD is in trouble in the consumer budget/mid range brackets. Amd going full ddr5 was a mistake and waiting so long to release b650 boards was a mistake. I've only ever had AMD builds and might just go intel this time unless the 7800x3d is seriously impressive.

People know when they're being greeded by a corporation. Nvidia is learning that right now and AMD is burning the good will they've built over the years speed run style.

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

Agreed, it's as even between the two as it can possibly get between releases. Even disregarding their ddr4 support Intel will still probably be better value like they've been since gen 10

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

Or you know, these shouldn't be looked as gaming components. The Ryzen 7000 Series is a real compute powerhorse. If you want to game get the 5800x3d/or chaper 5000 series or some power hungry intel combo

Jump in the discussion.

You might laugh at the Intel graph but AMD didn't even bother putting X3D into their graphs.

Anyone who wants to play games and doesn't care about going above 120fps or so should buy either 5600 non X for like ~160$/€ or Intel 12600kf once it goes on sale.
