I lied about the title actually he doesn't talk about s but he fricking goes OFF about Rust in his Kernel being mostly fricking useless.
Even "safe" rust code in user space will do things like panic when things go wrong (overflows, allocation failures, etc). If you don't realize that that is NOT some kind of true safely, I don't know what to say.
Although I may be wrong, I believe Rust does have compile-time failsafes for overflows
You had a bug. Shit happens. We have a lot of debugging cowtools that will give you a HUGE warning when said shit happens
Probably the best take out of this. Most Rust arguments are completely invalidated by the fact that Rust developers are just fricking lazy and too willing to blame a language than to blame their shitty programming skills
Deal with it.
Or, you know, if you can't deal with the rules that the kernel requires, then just don't do kernel programming.
Polite way to say "Frick off"

What do you mean I can't do kernel programming like I do userspace programming??
I just
abort()

Rust seems like the most bloated hand holdy language ever and its no wonder its popular with people with people that feel the need to switch teams when life gets tough.

Businesses should support Rust so that the utility of bad programmers like myself can be expanded. Talented programmers should be against Rust so that they can stay in low supply and high demand.
