The US Government can declare that the companies involved must come up with a way to provide equivalent functionality when interoperating between platforms, and then the companies can figure out how best they want to do that.

Then every day that's not the case after a grace period, or without convincing evidence they're working on it, they can eat fines or sanction from the FCC.

I don't care how they solve this problem, just that they do and that's what effective regulation is about.

First of all, I had no idea iPhone was that dominant, but I guess it makes sense, probably 2/3 of my friends have them.

Second of all, I hate internet people who think you can make laws to solve every "problem" they read about in the news. Like in this case, there isn't even any problem, oh no, messaging services are incompatible the government should step in... For what? Apple's service just sends text to non-apple people so what is the problem you are going to lobby the government to fix? Your fricking bubble is the wrong color? One of your emojis doesn't work? What is this guy trying to accomplish?
