lol the problem that :marseynull: is trying to solve has been solved many :marseymanysuchcases: different times in many :marseymanysuchcases: different ways (example is tor) but average people don't want to do that.

There are tons of really interesting distributed authority systems but average people never :marseyitsover: want to use them so they really exist just :marseyblops2chadcel2: to make :marseyyarn: nerds nut :marseynut:

also has anyone ever tried to do fediverse :marseyneko: but in a more readable format that isn't inspired by twitter? it would be neat in a forum like system :marseymars: with formatting and rich :marseymoney: text :marseymisinformation:

Shall I remind you that IRC is technically federated by design Which sort of fixes the "software goes down" thing?

But not that I know of, federated forums are actually an amazing idea when you think about it. I could actually hack such a thing into my bloated C++ piece of shit software that i'm working on, but its up to frontends to render things as forums.

ActivityPup by design can be extended in literally any way you want, so there's things like a federated Reddit attempt (which is dogshit but proves its potential). Having many systems for "backups" is possible. A good forum-like idea are "namespaces", where anyone can federate a "namespace" of a forum to keep it decentralized by nature. Only downside is moderation would be difficult on every side.
