The longer I leave my linux desktop running the smaller the reported harddrive size gets

Was 1TB this morning, now reports as 800GB.

Can't update to new release to see if the bug is fixed because Ubuntu's standard boot partion size of 511MB is too small to hold the new kernel and my current one

Fricking Ubuntu

Naw some process was opening and then removing files, but never closing them (so they took up space on disk but couldn't be seen with du/ls)

I couldn't figure out which process it was and I Needed to update anyway so I just reinstalled Ubuntu (and in the process tripped secure and had to take my pc apart to reset the bios)

the point is frick secure boot

I didn't like SB when it became a thing and I don't like it now. Plus some manufactures are starting to disable 3d party CAs(?) so you can't boot anything but windows on their PC (no not even with mircosucks signed shim)

literally never been an issue on a personal pc, all major distros put out their own keys. I've only run into this on kiosks and managed computers at work or libraries.
