Has anyone tried automating a "Sokal hoax"?

TL;DR on the Sokal Hoax is some chads submitted bogus nonsense papers to social science journals and they got published (there's zero academic rigor) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sokal_affair

I'm curious how hard / possible it would be to generate these with a ML tool and automating the submission process. the challenging part being any human follow up but I'm curious what could be done here.

Exactly what I was thinking. Pretty sure dead internet theory is true but the bots are actually very creative and funny.

I don't think ML-generated text is really good enough to pass, and I don't think you want want it to anyways. The goal of the hoax is to have the accepted article be maximally funny writing that, while fake, is well-written and has proper structure, rather than just submitting boring and semantically empty nonsense.

My take on it was dunking on the current state of scientific rigor in the field. Like literal nonsense is getting past the peer review.

Sure, it's a successful dunk if you get markov chain text past the reviewers, but it's much funnier if you get a properly written article claiming gravity is a social construct past them -- as was done by Sokal.

The hardest part is getting someone with enough credentials to submit it
