I dont get why g*mers get all giddy about seeing a version of a game that already exists

At least with old games it makes sense.

Usually they're hugely overhauled or completely reprogrammed with different versions of everything from sprites to sound.

Not like newer stuff where it's all a wrapper over cpus with identical instruction sets on the same engine

It's like watching a platoon build a tank out of two sticks and a rock, and they had to share the rock

Cos it's impressive to play, say, Quake II on PS1 which has about a tenth of the processing power required for the PC version and yet somehow it's a better overall game.

Never even heard of this literal who handheld, but from googling, it seems like a piece of shit, surprisingly this prototype looks like it runs better than all of the game.com games.

Yeah, the "port" or demo of resident evil 2 they made for it (along with the cancelled Gameboy color one) reminds me of playing resident evil on the SNES, which is actually never happened but I swear I had a vivid dream about playing it once

Nah it was actually ported by the devs and was virtually finished, but since the console never took off it was dropped basically, just like the resident evil 2 "port" Capcom made.

It's a bit crazy as it was rumored to exist for years with a screenshot or two cropping up at some point but everyone thought it was a hoax like luigi in mario 64 or Bio Force Ape (before someone actually found that NES game.)

The prototype game cart sold on ebay for like $7,600 (after the person dumped the ROM for people to emulate which is pretty awesome.)
