I like "same" because of Linus' reasoning:

There is NO reason to think that "threads" and "processes" are separate entities. That's how it's traditionally done, but I personally think it's a major mistake to think that way. The only reason to think that way is historical baggage.

Both threads and processes are really just one thing: a "context of execution". Trying to artificially distinguish different cases is just self-limiting.

But I would also accept "not same" but only in the sense that any given implemented concept of "thread" is not even the same as another implemented concept of "thread".

It certainly made the addition of pthread support to Linux much more straightforward, but see the CLONE_THREAD section of clone(2) -- signals in particular have some rough edges w.r.t. "processes and threads are the same".
