Do you have any experience with the OrangePI? I think it's a CN inspired-by/knockoff of the RPi but it's meant to have some useful extra features like hardware encryption (useful for VPNs) and other stuff.

The only SBC I’ve used extensively is the BeagleBone Black. It’s a cool piece of tech but woefully out of date because TI stopped improving that class of CPUs. 32b ARM is getting the axe everywhere and it’s not cool enough to justify its measly 512MB RAM and 1GHz CPU. I’m hoping they can make this RISC-V board they seem to be working on.

I do have an rpi but I honestly find it very frustrating, in contrast to the BeagleBone it does things extremely non-standard and custom. I think it won via force of hype and extreme support, it just never felt well designed to me.
