Kubrick would kick the average OpenAI employee in the balls and call them kitties for being so mediocre

It's one of the deepest movies ever made besides the ending (endings are always hard)

My mom said her and her friend walked out of the threatre cuz they were bored, but she's an uneducated housewife.

If you don't care about space and grand perspectives on history/future...or simply missed the mountain of analogies (for ex: the monkeys evolving beyond primates by discovering tools via the bone weapon analogy then brilliantly switching to a Glorious spacecraft shot showing the rapid development of human achievement from very primitive means) then I could see not liking it.

Or even the AI stuff which is super relevant to today.

Or just the amazing design of the spacecrafts and interiors,

If you don't care about stuff like that and just want a dumbed down Hollywood movie then obviously you won't like it. Without deeper meaning its overly long and boring,

There were several scenes that were minutes long where literally nothing at all happened. Like showing a 4-minute scene of two spacecraft docking. No relation to the plot, just masturbatory nonsense.

The plot was extremely shallow (hurr durr this bit of metal makes things sentient get it? Haha it made humans sentient then it made the computer sentient!!) And on top of that it wasn't even good, no character development, full of plot holes.

Honestly after watching it I realized why star wars was so popular. Those movies were mediocre but given that people were used to sci fi movies being as shitty as space odyssey it makes sense that even a mediocre movie is a huge step up.

And I'm not even touching the r-slurred ending that's just 20 minutes of a music visualizer

The government wanted to fake it but he’s such a perfection he made them shoot on the moon.

the story of him sneaking on that movie set to do all the lighting himself is pretty cool.
