Not technically ActivityPub-powered (open social-web protocol) but Matrix (open real-time data protocol) has similar goals in different areas. The biggest example being element.io which replaces Telegram, Groomercord, Slack, etc. - Instant Messengers. It’s a generic realtime data protocol though so you can use it for anything from game code to IoT devices.

This is talking about Matrix 2.0 which is going to bring :marseysonic: as its main future, promising to be as fast as Marsey’s native platform - Telegram! :marseytelegram:

Why does Element.io have a minimum amount of users for paid plans? Minimum $250/month ($3k/year) to use it for a business?

I guess the idea is you self-host it or something until you're a bigco

Not quite sure. I wonder if we’ll see smaller third parties do hosting.

It’s not exactly a small thing either, I talked to a person and they recommend the Rust implementation with SQLite as a smol server.
