Ruby is SRD of programming languages :marseybongosrdine:

I was informed this was a talk on a programming conference and it was "important", it opens with land acknowledgements. It has 0 lines of code. It reads like HR flayer.

I love land acknowledgements.

We are so sorry we were just more powerful than the guys before us, the fact that we took all their land and waged war with them (quite easily, I might add) was wrong, and were trying to do right by it and acknowledge that we did it (that we won and you lost). We’re sorry you guys got fricked like b-word boy losers. What? Give it back? LOL, no frickin’ way. :marseyxd:

Stuart Reges had one of the funniest land acknowledgments. https://reason.com/2022/07/15/professor-sues-university-of-washington-over-land-acknowledgment-investigation

I acknowledge that by the labor theory of property the Coast Salish people can claim historical ownership of almost none of the land currently occupied by the University of Washington.

He's based but his job involves herding r-slurs in the introductory java programming course; truly a most horrible fate.

This should 100% be called out for the performative bullshit it is. If you really feel that way, give the land back. If youre not gonna, youre a hypocrite, shut the frick up.

Funfact during land acknowledgements sometimes they now preemptively give the reason why they're doing a land acknowledgement at a quarterly financial update presentation or whatever random shit you see them appear in. Even in current political climate even more normies think what's the fricking point.

What? Give it back? LOL, no frickin’ way.

tbf, the losers who make these land acknowledgements almost certainly would support giving it back, it's just that nobody in a position of actual power is that r-slurred so they don't get their way
