The pace of development surrounding Baby AGI and AutoGPT is mind blowing. Seems like a new *groundbreaking* update comes out every hour

You can implement this yourself in a day (i spent my friday doing this because im ai pilled and its part of my job)
that you can get something so sophisticated (compared to historical tech) working so easily and quickly is absolutely mind blowing
We will be seeing this technology polished and commodified with widespread real world adoption in under 5 years im calling it right now

Productivity per worker will go up but it wont completely replace jobs, especially sales. People are fricking tricky and AI doesnt know how to program emotional intelligence yet.
Jump in the discussion.

This sounds like artcel cope about "the human touch" in their copy paste freelance furry drawings. Sales will at least downsize with AI assistance while ultimately smirking all their way to the street with codecels while the burger flipper's job somehow remains secure longer because no one can seem to create a reasonably priced topping placing machine that doesn't mix up tomatoes and onions.
Jump in the discussion.
No email address required.
The difference between this and artcel cope is that sales effectiveness is directly tied to quantifiable results. You cant really measure how much a picture makes someone feel, but you can measure how well someone can negotiate. Any AI negotiation software would be gamed to death.

Like they don't game humans to death. Sales are a step away from food servers who think they worked really hard for their tips, when it was the economy, the customer mood, and whether the other bartender who keeps 3 buttons open on her blouse was there that night all determined that couple bucks before anyone walked in.

Promise its easier to game automation then people, part of its appeal is that its simpler.
There are always market factors in play, which is why consistent success, across different market conditions is what makes a true pro salesperson, not just an order taker. Hard to know the difference from the outside looking in.

Which you don't think an AI can account for?
Jump in the discussion.

No, its the emotional intelligence piece that it cant account for.
Jump in the discussion.

It's more that we need sales conferences and meetings as an excuse to charge vacations to the company than the high level of emotional intelligence of sales teams. Sometimes you can't see the big picture from the inside: the near future of sales is down syndrome strippers with some cosmetic surgery and a CRM AI assistant.

Sentiment analysis is not that hard to do. And even then, game theoretical proficiency should be more than enough to beat low-tier to average salesmen. Our pokerbots already outperform the best human players, it seems to rely to a similar level as sales on "emotional intelligence".
If you are really paranoid about it getting ripped off, just make a human verify each transaction beforehand

Just in case another layer of abstraction gets added to the infinite stack of turtles that is software development, i.e. the same shit that's already been taking place for 30 years? Most software development is really just information logistics and management of development practices and organization across multiple teams, while the more specialized work is about identifying particular use cases and architecting/maintaining functionality around them.

Jump in the discussion.

You guys don't think an AI can give a good pitch, do a perfect demo, and keep track of all the things it needs to know in context of the customer and the sale? It won't wipe out all of sales in the same way it won't wipe out the good artists.
You're probably overestimating the impact of giving a shitty PowerPoint in person and taking a customer out to a nice restaurant, when the accountants looking at the numbers are the ones actually making the decisions. Tommy Boy was just a movie, and sales won't survive AI any better than other jobs.
