There are books shorter than this message.

The price they gave was $0.24 for 1,000 API calls. I quickly inputted this in my app, and saw that it was not far off Twitter's outstandingly high API prices

In other words "Reddit are charging the same prices as their rivals". It's almost as though data is valuable :marseyhmm:

I was recently describing my impression as I read the WoT series and in summary it was "For 90% of the book literally nothing happens. And then he crams all the action into the last few chapters."

I tried to read the first book based on a friend's recommendation. Nothing happens until exactly page 100 where I assume his publisher stepped in and forced something to occur.

Yeh but it's worth it for page 372 of book 11, trust me.

(I've never read the books)

Trollocs magically appear from some gate/portal every time the author needs some action to occur and frantic chasing ensues. Time after time, book after book.

I like the first book the most of all that I've read so far but that may be because it is so similar to LotR The Fellowship. The problem with fantasy books in general is you have to spend a good deal of :marseywords: establishing the world you are in and characters, and either people will find it interesting or not :tayshrug:

I still enjoy the rest of the book to a degree, but it is a lot of the same old same old and at points kind of a slog

There are reasonable points being made about price in this argument but overwhelmingly it's "I want free thing for me and it to be as easy as possible" while Reddit is just expected to eat the operating cost.

The official app isn't even that bad. These people are just babies.

bruh I don’t think a reasonable person would be against Ads being provided by the API or even just not “go frick yourself” pricing.

I concede i don't know enough about data pricing to know if reddit is gouging the shit out of the price on the pulls. I guess Twitter is doing the same thing? Open to that being bitched about.

But the problem with filtering ads through 3rd party cowtools is that reddit loses control of them at that point. Spez said that advertisers were getting pictures of their stuff next to reprehensible content which reddit can't control. This is the first thing id do if i was trying to torpedo ad sales on reddit so i believe it to be true. Not an option.

There’s plenty more options than kill third party apps. A Spotify style “premium grants you third party access and no ads” would’ve made ppl pissy but I highly doubt there would be a Janny Rebellion like now.

Isnt that kinda what theyre doing? You can use third party apps but you gotta pay? Wouldnt the apollo dev break even by charging $20 instead of $10?

No I mean you buy Reddit Premium so they don’t loose the ad revenue. The system is already in place for that
