Surely, having known about superconductors for 4 days now, I have a clear shot at achieving a breakthrough. Please condense a masters degree's worth of material science into two paragraphs for me, thanks.

It's really not that hard to understand.

Then explain it in 1500 words or fewer, smartypants.

The GodRock will revolutionize modern engineering because it is the GodRock. Everything will change. Especially if the GodRock is cheap to make.

The GodRock must levitate and fulfill a couple other conditions that need big boy lab equipment to test.

This rock levitates which means it is possibly the GodRock but other rocks can levitate too so it needs more testing to be sure.

do you really need bigboy equipment to detect superconductivity? just whack a high current through it and measure vdrop

I'd assume so but nobody's done it with this yet, at least that I've seen which made me think there had to be more to it than that.

Might mean it's all a hoax if it's that easy to check :marseycry:

there was the one chinese lab who found it working at 110K (not room temp though) but their resistance measuring equipment had what looks like a noise floor at 1e-5 so who really knows if it was zero or not.

That one guy is giving him a hard time but I mean the truth is, if people who don't know what they're talking about stopped confidently posting on Hacker News, there would be little left of the site.

Every thread I've opened up there has had the same teleology "because we're hackers". I don't think they were this self sucking even a few years ago. What happened?
