:marseyakshually: Imagine not knowing that a microwave uses a magnetron to boil water in its liquid state. A microwave can't melt ice. And it certainly can't melt plastic. Even the most basic simpleton would know that. But I suppose you people never passed 4th grade science class. :marseyshapiro:

I dont have to imagine shit, Ive :marseyakshually: melted plastic in a microwave before and have seen a plastic "microwave safe" plate start bubbling and popping in the microwave spraying plastic all over the inside. Plastic can catch fire in a microwave too

im not talking about ice cubes, im talking about plastic turning into a hot liquid in the microwave and staining the inside of the microwave. Ive also seen shitty tuperware soften in the microwave. If plastic was unaffected by mocrowaves why would they even make "microwave safe" plastic?

Okay, I don't think HEK293 cells can actually be use as a model for kidney damage, and dumping a concentrated crude solution (plastic heavy or not) could easily kill cells in a variety of ways. I am gonna have to look at this study now because it actually seems really amateurish.

I'm with you. Years ago I had one and would eat shit like stouffers that had the plastic film over the top.

You could just tell from common sense that this was happening, because after you microwaved it the film on the top would seem flimsier, like it was thinner.

Microwaves are probably fine if you put stuff in there without anything or like, you stick a piece of pizza on a paper towel or something.. But Idk.

They sort of just weird me out so I never bought one again after I moved. Also just not really a big fan of how microwaves heat stuff inconsistently and with stuff like pizza they make it super rubbery.

Yeah this is the main reason i don't use them. Heating on the stove is much better

Plastics become softer when heated?

Jump in the discussion.

No email address required.

Even after it cooled down, though.

It would also seem like there was a film on top of the food.

If you've ever eaten microwaved stouffers mac and cheese you would know what I'm talking about.

After you peel back the film and mix it there's like a film on top of it. You can just tell something bad is going on there.

Jump in the discussion.

Have you ever heated food without plastic? Microwave heating just heats up food in a dofferent way from ovens, i guess its the lack of hot air ventilatiom, that normally makes re-heated food drier, thats the reason it seems so weird from the microwave.
