years and years ago i read about a biohacker who wanted to change his gut flora, so he booked a hotel room for a week or so, sterilized it, put himself on some super strong antibiotics to kill his gut, ingested gelcaps of someone elses shit, and just waited for several days for it to take. according to his own reports the whole thing was a success, but "success" would probably be a spectrum in this case considering he basically hard reset his gi tract with no way of being able to understand the implications of hosting someone elses gut flora. iirc he claimed it helped him with some form of intolerance, like how the thought emporium guy did with his lactose intolerance.
theres been a bunch of research into how gut flora affects cognitive function and mood regulation, but i dont think theres been much publication regarding concrete and reproducible results as of yet, which is a shame because itd be a godsend if it could cure drug resistant depression.
