Is Wikipedia R-slurred?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Guy_Macon/Wikipedia_has_Cancer

One month into his life sentence, Castro was found hanged from a bedsheet, some might believe he committed suicide. Although other information found says it was due to auto-erotic asphyxiation.

There is literally no other information found. The link to the source just shows this:

The following month, speculation surfaced that Castro's death might not have been a suicide, but rather, caused by auto-erotic asphyxiation — a sexual act in which an individual achieves pleasure through choking themselves, ultimately causing them to lose consciousness. Countering those assertions, the medical examiner who conducted Castro's autopsy, Jan Gorniak of Ohio, stated that she wholly believed that Castro had planned his death. "I did the autopsy myself. I saw the ligature. I saw the pictures of the cell," Gorniak said, according to a report by CNN. "It was a suicide."

What speculation aka internet rumours is now "information". I mean I guess by definition.

This is typical wikipedia nonsense, but its getting on my nerves more and more. Its really bad when you look at celeb pages. You might as well just read the publicist shit.

For example, look at "yungblud" 's wikipedia page:

Harrison was diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) at a young age which, due to a lack of appropriate support for his diagnosis, made him a troublesome student

Wikipedia spends only 2.4 million on server costs for their 150 million dollar budget. They still don't pay editors

Donate to real people not organizations or (most) charities. And not people on the internet either. I mean real people you meet in real life. And not friends or family (in most circumstances), but like homeless dudes or something. Somebody trully in need.

Thanks! You want the biggest kicker from Wikipedia yet?

There are two dozen sexual harassment scandals in Wikipedia. If published on Daily Beast they're totally fricked.

Kek graphs on Wikipedia have been broken for more than half a year now and they just can't be bothered to fix it.

:marseybeanquestion: Why exactly did you think that giving money to the Wikimedia Foundation would improve the content of Wikipedia, which is contributed by people who Do It For Free? Not caring to fix stuff is one thing, but doing a write-up somewhere else about how it's wrong is just r-slurred.

do it for free

Some people don't even do it for free, they pay to do it.

LinkedIn would die a pretty horrendous death if all of us could just pay $5/month to have an Wikipedia page on our name with Birth/Education/Career/Personal Life sections

No wikipedia would just become unusable. Its like saying, "all other colleges would fail if Harvard let in everyone", no it would just cease to be what we recognize as Harvard and become something entirely new almost assuredly less prestigous and coveted.

I get your general point though.

You're whining about a single edit made by an anonymous rando two days ago.

You know you can edit the article, right?

EDIT: I can't link to the diff because @FrozenCapy thinks it's a good idea to strip random parameters from the links. See the source of my comment to get the address.

FYI the movies all debuted an hour earlier last week, I considered that it was planned but the same thing happened on Sunday when automod said they'd start at 4EST and they actually started at 3. I'd guess a daylight saving issue. I hope you're having a great day.

It's designed to be astroturfed to shit, and this is actually mostly ok. Unrelated, the foundation doesn't need money. Both of these can be true without it being a semitic conspiracy.

Its not a conspiracy, I think its just incompetence and a run away company when you have the brain&soul leave (Larry Sanger), while the business man doesn't (Jimmy Wales).

You can see the same thing with Allen/Gates and Wozniak/Jobs.

Its a simple calculation:

1. Spirit man who likes to innovate is bored when you have built a company and it makes more sense (cents) to maintain than to create.

2. Business man who built the business side, (who might have been bored in beggining), now is very excited, because its his favorite part, increasing numbers on a piece of paper.

3. Business man takes over, spirit man leaves or soft quits.

4. Nothing stopping business man from becoming a business, man.

Woz was the brains (knew how to code) and Jobs was the soul (abused employees)

I wish I had a clear, non-partisan example I could show redditros when they gush over Wikipedia and express disbelief over any criticism (these redditors have never edited Wikipedia or visited a talk page, they just see clean graphic design without typos and they believe things).

Try List of hoaxes on Wikipedia. Sure, they might say it's rare compared to the total content--but would they recognize it if they see it? Not unless they read critically and engage with cited sources.

I'd say the same thing for academic works. It happens all the time that I think "no way," follow up on the citation, and find the claim is not supported by the other source.
