RCS (Rich Communication Services) will bring a number of iMessage-style features to texts between Android and iPhone users. This includes things such as read receipts, typing indicators, and higher-quality images and videos.
The one thing that won't be changing, however, is the color of the messaging bubbles.

Short primer.
RCS is something that Apple initial help fund the development of. As is usual, when a bunch of companies get to gather to create a protocol it gets bogged down my too many cooks in the kitchen. This was the case with USB 3 or USB C or whatever and why Apple developed lightning cables. It is shittier than iMessage and currently encryption only works by sending everything through Google servers lmao. It basically does everything iMessage does that normies need but came out much later and is bulkier and the roll out sucks because it is based on carrier and Google support and there's a laundry list that I don't care to type up and if you're still reading this what the frick is wrong with you.
Q & A
Why is bubble color important?
It helps us in the dating world know who is capable of making smart purchases as well as an idea on how much they will be able to contribute in the relationship. I don't mind paying for dinner but if she expects for me to provide her gum after she blows me sorry girl

That's not what happened.
If your battery had degraded to a point your phone would literally shut off they would throttle your chip.
The method of silently doing this and not communicating to the user better was bad, but there was nothing wrong with what they did.

Since the iPhone 12 they redesigned the internals to prioritize battery and screen replacements - iFixIt calls this out directly
They also disagree with Apple's methodology of pairing parts to the device which is done to make the phone worthless if stolen and wiped.
Sammy devices are still glued in nightmares like most phones of the era.

Thats what they claimed but "degraded" was like 80% battery health.
They didnt want people to get the battery replaced instead of buying new.

Yes 80% battery health is around 2-3 years of usage which is when it stops delivering in-spec voltages

the iPhone 12 mini (small, base model, three years old) has a cpu that's effectively the same as Samsungs current year flagship.

This doesnt prove anything, samsung phones could also become slower intentionally after a few years

The problem is software is a moving target in 2023.
Back in the day you'd install a word processor and it would run that same version of the word processor for years. Nothing changes, demands are static.
In 2023, everything is done on the internet and everyone expects to do more every year. Every app on your phone was probably updated in the last month with more features that will tax the phones specs just ever so slightly more.
Should developers give more of a shit? Probably. but the ones trying to make money are probably going to choose tools that speed up their dev time, not save you cpu time.

Nobody is asking the phone to do more, developers are putting more in that nobody requested.
So many apps now have a feature where if you shake the phone, it assumes you're frustrated and asks if you want to file a bug report. Snapchat does not need to be monitoring my phone's inertia sensors.
It's actually a native function in Android, .withReportOnShakeEnabled

I think like many sensors, it's always reading them and just sends the data if an app requests - e.g. GPS or rotation.
I mean we're on a silly website where ppl still request new features. I don't disagree that Microsoft Word from 20 years ago probably had every word processing feature we needed but there's a long tail on software.

I get that, but the app is using extra processing cycles to check and act upon the results. It's a bloat problem.
