RCS is something that Apple initial help fund the development of. As is usual, when a bunch of companies get to gather to create a protocol it gets bogged down my too many cooks in the kitchen. This was the case with USB 3 or USB C or whatever and why Apple developed lightning cables. It is shittier than iMessage and currently encryption only works by sending everything through Google servers lmao. It basically does everything iMessage does that normies need but came out much later and is bulkier and the roll out sucks because it is based on carrier and Google support and there's a laundry list that I don't care to type up and if you're still reading this what the frick is wrong with you.

I used Android for years and I just simply enjoy iOS more for daily phone tasks. Android is kind of a shitshow even now, but I think both OSes are plenty mature.
I think it's worth criticizing their stance on sideloading and dumb specs like 8G RAM in the new MBP (I feel like it undermines the goal of the product) but I've run into a lot of /g/ tier lying about their decisions and products.

The 8GB is for the "base" model that they introduced using the M3.
It's a very strange product but the "real" MBP does have 18GB RAM starting.

I I guess I really enjoy the ecosystem and the pricing is definitely eye rolling at times (I mentioned memory before, it's highway robbery) but the limitations I find go away on macOS and are mainly on iOS and iPadOS which will hopefully be changing as early as next year due to the EU.

It costs like $50 to get a battery replaced here in Europe on any iphone model with a new genuine part and including labour at one of any licenced phone repair shops like iFixit. You just hand your phone over at the shop for like an hour, go watch a movie or somehting and come back to collect your phone afterwards. Right to repair legislation means Apple has to allow this by law or get fined billions. It works great.

In 2023, everything is done on the internet and everyone expects to do more every year. Every app on your phone was probably updated in the last month with more features that will tax the phones specs just ever so slightly more.
