Wrongful termination would be the first thing, and potentially breach of fiduciary duty if he owned at least one share. But that's a question for a California employment lawyer, which I don't think we have on the site.

Him losing control is the shitty thing not the dollar amount but I see what you're getting at. But if he doesn't have a majority share control of the company, I don't think he can do much. Boards screw over founders all the time. it's what happens when you sell equity and lose control over your own company
