What's the best bang for my buck in GPUs these days? I'm looking around the black Friday deals and realizing I have no baseline for what the price *should* be beyond a "this feels too expensive" gut feeling.

I'd gone in thinking I was going to grab a 3060 TI (currently 300) or a 6750 XT (currently 400) and but now I'm not so sure.

1. Look up a game you play.

2. Find the benchmarks for that game

3. Choose an acceptable level vs the cost

Good site but being Australia is all pain when shopping for GPUs.

GPUs are all expensive these days, you've just got to reset your spending expectations from past generations. I got a 3080 last year and it smashes every game at 1440p so I'm happy.

The 6750XT is barely better than the 6700XT but it's usually $50 more expensive. I think I saw some deals for the 6700XT at about $300 which is a pretty good deal that still would put in mid range.

If that's too expensive AMD's 6600XTs go under $200 if there's a sale. Regular 6600s are also available for under $200 usually but I don't think there's a lot left. Still it's probably the greatest bang-for-your-buck GPU in the past few years. Well, the best that's available, if it was still in stock I'd say the regular 6700 would be the best but supplies for it are dwindling everywhere.

The 3060TI or 4060 aren't bad options at around $300 either, between those and the 6700XT I'd just go with whatever is cheaper.

The Intel a750 is actually pretty solid as a sub-$200 option now, the drivers have come a long way and it trades blows with the 6600XT at a similar price while offering extra features like AV1 encoding and Stable Diffusion on Windows. However, the drivers still have ways to go before they can be compared to the likes of Nvidia or AMD. Overall not a bad deal if your willing to wait for the Fine Wine™ drivers to improve.

If you are absolutely strapped for cash you can try finding used GPUs on Ebay. The 5700XT can be found for $150 or less and it's still pretty solid for most games today.

That's nice sweaty. Why don't you have a seat in the time out corner with Pizzashill until you calm down, then you can have your Capri Sun.

just get a cpu with a good integrated GPU if thats enough for your needs.

I wouldn't spend more than $150 on a GPU but i don't play a lot of the new, graphicially intense ones

The only ones with good iGPUs are AMD 7040s which are usually in laptops that come with dedicated graphics cards or in minipcs which are basically a coinflip if the Chinese sweatshop workers built it right or not.

I might upgrade to the new framework laptop mobo if that's the case, i got the intel 12th gen gfx right now and its a lot better than skylake gfx. but I heard the amd desktop APUs were acceptable?

Yeah the AMD 680m/780m are the best iGPUs ever and actually make the case for not needing low-end discrete GPUs if you have fast enough RAM.

With Intel's next gen Meteor Lake iGPU specs looking good we might be past the point of needing shit tier 3050s in "gaming" laptops.

:marseytrollgun: I hate Intel

One of the modern optimization disasters that I want to play has a 2080 as the recommended GPU
